Our Beliefs.

Riverside Church

JESUS CHRIST IS OUR SAVIOR AND LORD.

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. On earth, Jesus was 100 percent God and 100 percent man. He is the only man ever to have lived a sinless life. He was born of a virgin, performed miracles, died on the Cross for mankind, and paid for our sins through the shedding of His blood. He rose from the dead on the third day according to the Scriptures, was buried and resurrected…then ascended to the right hand of the Father, and will return again in power and glory. (John 1:1,14, 20:28; I Corinthians 15:1-5; I Timothy 3:16; Isaiah 9:6; Philippians 2:5-6; 1 Timothy 2:5)

WATER BAPTISM BY IMMERSION.

We believe in being completely dipped in the water right after receiving Christ as Lord and Savior. It is a testimony of our death to sin, burial, and resurrection to a new life. (Matthew 28:19; Acts 2:38; Mark 16:16; Acts 8:12, 36-38; 10:47-48, Romans 6)

REGENERATION [SPIRITUAL REBIRTH] BY THE HOLY SPIRIT.

For anyone to see and enter into the Kingdom of God, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential. (John 3:1-8; Titus 3:5)

BEING BAPTIZED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT, SPEAKING WITH OTHER TONGUES.

The gift (singular) of the Holy Spirit was given at Pentecost with the sign of known languages and is the promise of the Father, sent by Jesus after His Ascension; it is an overwhelming filling of God’s Presence and empowers Christians to preach the Gospel throughout the whole earth. (Joel 2:28-29; Matthew 3:11; Mark 16:17; Acts 1:4-5, 2:1-4, 16-18, 38-39, 8:14-17, 10:38, 44-47, 11:15-17, 19:1-6)

FIVE-FOLD LEADERSHIP GIFTS OPERATING IN THE CHURCH TODAY.

We have intentionally adopted and activated the anointed, God-appointed, model for Church Leadership. That is: Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors, and Teachers who together equip the Saints [Called-Out-Ones] for the ministry of building the Body of Christ. The Government of God functions through these offices. (Ephesians 4:11-16; 1 Corinthians 12:27-28; 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13 + Throughout the Book of The Acts of the Apostles, e.g., Acts 14:14, 11:27, 13:1, 20:28, 21:8)

THE RESURRECTION OF JESUS CHRIST, HIS PEOPLE, AND THE DEAD.

Jesus Christ was physically resurrected from the dead in a glorified body three days after His death on the Cross. Some unknown day there will be a “Catching Away” of living and sleeping [deceased] Believers at the sound of God’s Trumpet. In addition—in the unrevealed future—both the saved and the lost will be resurrected: they that are saved to the resurrection of life and they that are lost to the resurrection of eternal damnation. (Luke 24:16, 36, 39; John 2:19-21, 20:26-28, 21:4; Acts 24:15; I Corinthians 15:42, 44; Philippians 1:21-23, 3:21; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18)
